Representatives of the ITTF have visited Rotterdam from 21 till 23 October for inspection. During this inspection the progress of the organization was closely watched and discussed. They also visited Ahoy Rotterdam during the world championships artistic gymnastics.

Thursday 21 October Judit Farago (competition director) and Jordi Serra (executive director) started their inspection visit. On Friday 22 October there was some time to look outside the meeting room, in Ahoy to be exact. Judit Farago, Jordi Serra and Anders Thunström (TMS) were guided by Hans van Amerongen (Ahoy) on a tour through the building. They visited the renovated indoor arena, but also the meeting rooms and the other halls in Ahoy. Also this day they had several  meetings. The main topic was the usage of the various locations in Ahoy. After the meeting there was some time to enjoy the world championships artistic gymnastics in the indoor arena.

Anders Thunström stayed an extra day and had a meeting with the NOS together with Ton van Happen and Peter Sprenger (Unicem). They discussed the host broadcasting and production facilities.

At the end of the inspection visit the ITTF-delegation was impressed by the possibilities that Ahoy offers. Championships director Ton van Happen: “The inspection visit was conducted in  a relaxed atmosphere. This says a lot about the mutual trust. It is nice to work with such a professional organization as the ITTF.” In February the third and last inspection visit will be held. This will be during the ABN Amro world tennis tournament, when  they will set eyes on a completed indoor arena.
