Competition schedule World Table Tennis Championships announced

Organizing committee guarantees daily top-level table tennis and a spectacular final weekend

On 110 days before the first match, the organizing committee of the 2011 World Table Tennis Championships has announced their competition schedule. The Championships will be held from 8 to 15 May 2011 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Eight days of top-level table tennis will be concluded with a spectacular final weekend with the men’s single semi finals and final on Sunday. The women's single final is scheduled on Saturday.

Championships director Ton van Happen is pleased: “Together with the ITTF we put a lot of effort to present a proper competition schedule. It was our wish to have a balanced schedule where table tennis fans from all over the world can watch interesting matches each day. The men’s single semis and final on Sunday is just the icing on the cake. And of course in the Women's single we hope that the Dutch nr. 10 or the World ranking Li Jiao will play till late in the event. We are happy that quarter and semi final in women's single are scheduled on Friday”.

For the athletes it’s even more special. The World Championships will be an important qualifying event to the Olympic Games in London 2012. It is for this reason that the balanced competition schedule has the highest priority for the Local Organizing Committee as well for the ITTF. “With this competition schedule we succeed in this mission,” concludes Van Happen.
