A delegation of the ITTF visited Rotterdam from 9 to 12 February. The purpose of this visit was the last inspection of the venue for the 2011 WTTC, AHOY in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
During the visit, the delegation was informed about the current situation of the 2011 WTTC. They visited the recently reopened AHOY Arena for a detailed inspection. Because the inspection took place during the ABN AMRO world tennis tournament, the delegation got a good impression of the AHOY Arena during a big event.
Furthermore a lot of meetings took place to discuss several topics like transportation, catering and the provision of information during the event. There where also some discussions about the entry system.
The delegation used the public transport system of Rotterdam during their visit. They saw the benefits and the disadvantages of the Dutch chip system. The subway entries got blocked for one of the delegates after having checked in twice. In spite of this problem, the ITTF was very satisfied about the progress of the organizing committee and they are looking forward to the 2011 WTTC in May.
