Presentation on the 2011 World Championships at the ITTF Congress in Moscow

Edgar Verkooijen, Chairman of the NTTB, addressed all the countries present, ITTF committee members and other officials at the ITTF Congress in Moscow, Russia. A promotion video was also shown. The World Individual Championships are to be staged from 8 to 15 May 2011 in Ahoy, Rotterdam.

In his speech Verkooijen mentioned, among other things, the extensive recreational sport campaign the NTTB will be conducting before, during and after the World Championships. The 2028 Olympic Plan from NOC*NSF, the government and affiliated sports associations was also highlighted. The objective: to get the whole of The Netherlands to an Olympic level in both top sport and recreational sport, possibly culminating in a bid for the Summer Olympic Games in 2028.

The promotion video included pictures of The Netherlands, the organizing sport city of Rotterdam and its facilities, Ahoy and, of course, the top Dutch table tennis players. This promotion video will shortly be available on this website.

At the ITTF Congress it was further decided that the 2013 World Individual Table Tennis Championships would be held in the French capital, Paris. The other candidate, Qatar, withdrew before the vote. The ITTF had awarded 2011 (Rotterdam, World Individual Championships) and 2012 (Dortmund, World Team Championships) at an earlier stage.
